Last month, I got tired of spending my evenings scrolling through hours of footage just to pull out a few good clips for posting. The process was slow, and my choices for what would actually grab attention were inconsistent at best. That's when I started putting together an agent that could take over the heavy lifting.

The goal was simple at first: have something that looks at a video, finds the parts worth sharing, turns them into short clips with attention-grabbing starts, and gets them up on the platforms without me touching a thing. Over time, I added the ability for it to look back at how those clips performed and adjust for next time.

Starting with the core daily routine

I set the agent to run once a day on a new batch of content. I based the setup on a community-shared workflow that processes a batch of videos daily, identifies the best moments with engaging hooks, delivers clip options via messaging for selection, handles auto-uploads across platforms, and builds in a self-improvement loop through weekly analytics analysis. It goes through each video methodically, spotting moments that have strong potential based on pacing, visuals, or spoken hooks. From there, it creates multiple clip versions, each trying a different way to pull viewers in right away.

These get packaged up and sent over a messaging app so I can pick which ones to move forward with. The approval step keeps things under control while still automating most of the work. After that, the agent handles the formatting tweaks and pushes the selected clips out to the short video sites automatically.

This part worked better than I expected from the beginning. What used to take me an hour or two now happens in the background, and I just review a few options in the morning. But the real payoff came later.

Letting it learn from its own results

After running for a few weeks, I connected the agent to fetch the performance data from the platforms every seven days. It parses the views, completion rates, and engagement metrics for each clip it posted.

Using that information, it refines the way it identifies good moments and crafts hooks. For example, it noticed that clips starting with a direct question or a surprising fact tended to hold attention longer than ones with just visual effects. So it began prioritizing those patterns in future generations.

It handled the basic upload automation and messaging fine. For the deeper video analysis needed to find the best hooks, it occasionally fell back to stronger options. An old Mac setup with local models also worked for some tasks, but the full chain of video breakdown plus platform uploads required more consistent performance than pure local runs provided at times.

Avoiding overload with too many skills

As I added more pieces to the pipeline, like browser-based upload steps and analytics parsing, I had to watch how many skills were active at once. Beyond around 20 to 30, the accuracy of the agent calling the right tool at the right time started to drop.

I kept the main flow focused on video analysis, clip creation, approval delivery, uploads, and the weekly review. Extra skills were routed through smaller sub-processes only when needed. This scoping helped maintain reliability during the longer agent runs.

The end result and what I learned

Putting the pieces together, the agent now runs the full cycle with minimal input from me. It processes the video, generates options, uploads after approval, and uses the weekly data to tweak its hook selection for the following days.

Some local model attempts didn't hold up for the complex multi-step parts, so I mix in cloud fallbacks there. The dual instance method handles the update risks, and the cost tweaks keep things reasonable.

The main takeaway is that these self-improving content agents can work well if you account for the stability and background costs upfront. Start with the daily processing and approval flow, then layer on the analytics learning once the basics are solid. It turns a time sink into something that actually gets better over time.
