Use Standard Compute with Magpie

An open-source desktop app that sets the model for Claude Code, Codex, OpenCode, Gemini CLI and over 60 other agents from one place, through one local gateway on your machine. Add Standard Compute to Magpie once and every agent it wires can use our router, which sends each step to the cheapest model that can do it. One click imports the provider; you paste your key.

For every model we vet providers for price, uptime and speed, with automatic fallback. Opt-in Europe or US Compliance rules apply per company, team or key, and we don't train on your prompts or store them.

Eligible new accounts can try $0.25 of compute, with no card. See trial terms →

Your connection settings

Add to Magpie fills in both base URLs, and Magpie asks for your key before it saves anything. To add the provider by hand, copy these values (steps below).

Where to set them in Magpie

  1. Create a key on the API keys page of your Standard Compute dashboard, then click Add to Magpie. Magpie opens and shows the provider (Standard Compute, id standardcompute, both base URLs) and every host your prompts and key will go to. Paste your key and press Add; nothing is saved before that.
  2. To add it by hand instead, Providers → Add provider takes any OpenAI- or Anthropic-compatible URL: use https://api.stdcmpt.com/v1 for OpenAI Chat, https://api.stdcmpt.com for Anthropic Messages, and your key. In a terminal: magpie provider add standardcompute url=https://api.stdcmpt.com/v1 anthropic=https://api.stdcmpt.com key=<your key>.
  3. Magpie lists the models Standard Compute's /v1/models returns. On the Agents page pick standardcompute/StandardCompute for the router, or an exact model such as standardcompute/anthropic/claude-fable-5.1 to pin one (magpie claude standardcompute/StandardCompute does the same for Claude Code). Start a new session to use it.

What changes in Magpie

Billing
Magpie requests draw on one monthly compute budget, with plans from $19 a month. There is no per-token bill. When the budget is used, requests stop until renewal or an upgrade, unless you turn on pay as you go.
Models
The model StandardCompute picks a frontier or an efficient model for each request. An exact model ID from the Models page pins one model instead.
Good to know
Magpie is free and MIT-licensed, for macOS, Windows and Linux; import links need Magpie 0.1.8 or later. Agents send requests to Magpie's local gateway at 127.0.0.1:3425, which forwards them to Standard Compute with your key, so the agents never hold it. The import link carries no key, and its settings sit in the URL fragment, which browsers never send to a server.
