Use Standard Compute with Octop

Tencent Cloud's open-source, self-hosted AI assistant for households and small teams: several users, a team of expert agents each, and chat through the web dashboard, Feishu, DingTalk, WeCom, QQ, WeChat, Telegram or Discord. Paste three settings into Octop: the base URL, your Standard Compute API key and the model.

Octop's Auto mode keeps your preferred model and switches only when a message holds content it cannot handle, such as an image; it does not pick a model by cost. Fetch models works only for OpenAI-compatible providers.

Eligible new accounts can try $0.25 of compute, with no card. See trial terms →

Where to set them in Octop

  1. Sign in as the admin and open Model Management. Under Custom Providers, click New Provider.
  2. Enter a Name such as standardcompute, set Type to OpenAI Compatible, Base URL to https://api.stdcmpt.com/v1 and API Key to your Standard Compute key.
  3. Click Fetch models (or add the model standardcompute by hand), run Test Connection and save, then choose Set as preferred on standardcompute so agents use it by default.

What changes in Octop

Billing
Octop requests draw on one monthly compute budget, with plans from $19 a month. There is no per-token bill. When the budget is used, requests stop until renewal or an upgrade, unless you turn on pay as you go.
Models
The model standardcompute picks a frontier or an efficient model for each request. An exact model ID from the Models page pins one model instead.
Good to know
Octop is free and MIT-licensed. Its presets cover OpenAI, Anthropic, DeepSeek, Zhipu, Kimi, Tencent Cloud plans and more, each billed by that provider, and Ollama runs local models with no key. Custom providers start with live token usage off, because some gateways reject it.
