Use Standard Compute with ZCode

Z.ai's open-source coding agent as a desktop app, web UI and TUI, built for GLM but open to any OpenAI- or Anthropic-compatible provider. Paste three settings into ZCode: the base URL, your Standard Compute API key and the model.

ZCode saves providers to ~/.zcode/v2/config.json, where a provider's options only recognize connection settings: apiKey, baseURL, apiKeyRequired and headers.

Eligible new accounts can try $0.25 of compute, with no card. See trial terms →

Your connection settings

Copy these values, then put them where ZCode expects them (steps below).

Model

Where to set them in ZCode

  1. Open Settings → Model Providers and click Add Provider at the bottom of the provider list.
  2. Name it Standard Compute, set the OpenAI endpoint to https://api.stdcmpt.com/v1 and enter your Standard Compute API key.
  3. Click Add Model, enter standardcompute (or an exact ID such as anthropic/claude-sonnet-5.5), turn on the enable switch and pick the model in the selector.

What changes in ZCode

Billing
ZCode requests draw on one monthly compute budget, with plans from $19 a month. There is no per-token bill. When the budget is used, requests stop until renewal or an upgrade, unless you turn on pay as you go.
Models
The model standardcompute picks a frontier or an efficient model for each request. An exact model ID from the Models page pins one model instead.
Good to know
ZCode is free and open source (Apache 2.0). Its native route is a Z.ai account with a daily trial quota and the GLM Coding Plan; a custom provider bills through that provider.
