How much does NanoGPT cost?

NanoGPT PRO is $12 a month for 60 million input tokens a week on open-weight models. Claude, GPT and Gemini are extra, pay-as-you-go at list price with no markup. Standard Compute, from $19 a month, puts frontier and open models in one budget.

How far 60 million tokens a week goes

Models that count twice halve the allowance. And on chat completions, NanoGPT's docs say cache markers, "including inline cache_control markers added by clients such as OpenCode", move that request to pay-as-you-go billing.

The catch

The allowance counts input tokens, and coding agents are almost all input: each step resends the conversation so far. An allowance sized in input tokens empties far faster in an agent than in a chat window.

Where Standard Compute fits

Standard Compute is a monthly price per API key too, and it optimizes the part NanoGPT leaves at list price: Claude, GPT, Gemini and open models share one dollar budget from $19 a month, and the router saves frontier models for the steps that need them. If your agent does well on open-weight models alone, NanoGPT's $12 is the better deal.

FAQ

When did NanoGPT raise its price?

On May 12, 2026, from $8 to $12 a month. NanoGPT announced it on May 5 and cited more expensive models; the 60 million weekly cap on input tokens dates from February.

Does NanoGPT PRO include Claude or GPT?

No. On October 13, 2026 every Claude, GPT and Gemini model in NanoGPT's live catalog was marked not included; they are pay-as-you-go at list price.

Does NanoGPT charge a markup?

Not on auto-routed text models: they bill at list price with no deposit fee. Pinning a provider normally adds 5%, and your own provider keys cost 5% of the model's normal price.

Do output tokens count against NanoGPT's weekly limit?

NanoGPT's docs say the daily and weekly limits count input tokens. They don't say how cached input counts.

Does NanoGPT have an auto model router?

Yes. auto-model categorizes each prompt and picks the model that performs best in that category by global user preferences, updated daily, and it is included in PRO.
