How much does CodeRouter cost?
CodeRouter costs $19 a month for 2 million tokens, up to $299 for 80 million, each with a smaller Opus allowance; past the quota it bills list price plus 15% up to a cap, so a Starter month can reach $59. Standard Compute's $19 plan is a $20 budget across every model that stops instead of billing overage.

From coderouter.io/pricing, October 13, 2026. Overage is billed at the provider's list price plus 15% up to the default cap, which you can raise; after it, CodeRouter routes remaining calls to cheaper models instead of blocking. Annual plans get two months free.
How many working days a quota covers
Which column applies decides whether Starter lasts a morning or most of two days, so ask CodeRouter before you size a plan. A dollar budget avoids the question: cache reads are billed at their own price, a twentieth of fresh input on Claude, and $20 on Standard Compute's Starter covers about five and a half typical days pinned to Claude Sonnet 5.5, more with routing.
| Plan | Typical days if cache reads count | Typical days if they don't |
|---|---|---|
| Starter, 2M | 0.2 | 1.8 |
| Solo, 5M | 0.6 | 4.4 |
| Pro, 30M | 3.5 | 26 |
| Studio, 50M | 5.9 | 44 |
| Team, 80M, shared by up to 50 keys | 9.4 | 71 |
One developer's typical coding-agent day in our Agent Burn Index is 8.5 million tokens, 87% of them cache reads (September 13 to October 12, 2026). CodeRouter's pages don't say whether cache reads count against the quota.
Direct mode and the fine print
- Direct mode is pay-as-you-go at provider cost times 1.15, after any cache discount, with a $10 minimum top-up and a hard stop with HTTP 429 at a zero balance.
- On smart-routing plans, CodeRouter rewrites explicit model names to auto and returns the requested model in an X-CodeRouter-Auto-Override header. The pricing page still lists model pinning on Studio; the May changelog says Studio and Team pins are rewritten too.
- Region selection is listed for Enterprise only, and the site names no company or location.
The catch
A token quota looks generous until you learn how tokens are counted. Coding agents resend their context on every step, so an agent can use millions of tokens on a quiet morning, almost all of them cache reads.
Where Standard Compute fits
Standard Compute sells the same idea as CodeRouter, a monthly plan with routing for coding agents, and counts it in dollars: $20 of compute on the $19 Starter and $95 on the $89 Standard, with cached tokens at their own lower price. You choose up to five models for the router, and companies get a plan per key. If you'd rather keep working on cheaper models than stop, CodeRouter's soft stop is the better fit.
FAQ
Is CodeRouter free?
There is a two-day trial with 1 million tokens and no card. Direct mode gives $5 of credit once, and its page says it is granted when you add a card.
What happens when CodeRouter tokens run out?
Overage bills at the provider's list price plus 15% up to the plan's default cap ($40 on Starter). Past the cap, CodeRouter says it routes remaining calls to cheaper models and never blocks.
Can I choose the model on CodeRouter?
Not on the smart-routing plans: explicit model names are rewritten to auto. Direct mode, at list price plus 15%, lets you call models directly.
Is CodeRouter cheaper than Standard Compute?
Both start at $19. CodeRouter gives 2 million tokens with up to $40 of automatic overage; Standard Compute gives a $20 budget across all models that stops when it is used, unless you buy a top-up.
