How much does Cursor cost now?

Since October 12, 2026, new Cursor plans cost $8 (Plus), $30 (Premium), $100 (Super) or $200 (Ultra) a month, and the included usage covers Grok models only. Claude, GPT and Gemini are billed separately at API list price, and the $20 Pro plan is closed to new signups, though current subscribers keep it for now.

If you are on Pro, Pro+ or Ultra today

  • Nothing changes automatically. Cursor staff: “You can keep it at the same price with the same features for now.” Anyone moved later gets advance notice.
  • The old plans keep their included allowance for Claude, GPT and Gemini. If those models are most of your work, staying put is likely cheaper.
  • Switching permanently combines your Cursor account with a Grok and X account. The old plan ends with a prorated refund.
  • A lapsed subscription cannot be restarted. The old plans are no longer sold.

Your own API key in Cursor

  • Cursor Settings → Models takes OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, Azure OpenAI and AWS Bedrock keys. An Override OpenAI Base URL setting points the OpenAI key at any OpenAI-compatible endpoint.
  • Own keys need Premium or above on the new plans. Plus cannot use them.
  • They work in chat and agent. Tab completion stays on Cursor's models.
  • The override also catches Grok and Composer. Switch it off to use your included Grok usage.
  • Requests still pass through Cursor's servers, and Cursor's Zero Data Retention policy does not apply to them.

The catch

A $30 Premium plan can cost more than the $20 Pro plan did. Pro included an allowance for Claude and GPT. Premium bills every one of those requests on top of the $30.

Where Standard Compute fits

Standard Compute is a model API, so it replaces the model bill inside Cursor, not Cursor itself. Set the OpenAI key to a Standard Compute key, the base URL to https://api.stdcmpt.com/v1 and the model to standardcompute, then run one real agent task before relying on it. Plans start at $19/month with a fixed monthly budget. Requests stop when it is used up, with no overage charges.

FAQ

Is Cursor Pro gone?

For new signups, yes, since October 12, 2026. Existing Pro subscribers keep it at $20 for now.

What replaced Cursor Pro?

Premium at $30 a month. Cursor says it includes at least twice Pro's coding usage with Grok models.

Cursor Plus vs Premium: what is the difference?

Plus ($8) runs Grok models only. Premium ($30) has four times the usage and adds cloud agents, Bugbot, other models and your own API key.

Can I still use Claude in Cursor?

Yes, on Premium and above, paid at Anthropic's API list price through top-ups. On a current Pro, Pro+ or Ultra plan it still uses the included allowance.

What happened to Pro+?

It is closed to new signups with no direct replacement. Cursor points those users at Premium or Super.

Is there a Cursor alternative if I mostly use Claude or GPT?

VS Code extensions such as Cline, Kilo Code and Continue let you choose the model provider and its bill. A current Cursor Pro plan also still includes other-model usage.
